Buffalo Sabres December Schedule Breakdown

Before we delve into the Buffalo Sabres’ December schedule, let’s take a quick look at how the team did in November 2015.

The Buffalo Sabres played 13 games in November, and although the month included a six-game losing streak, the Sabres overall came out of the month with 14 of a possible 26 points. While they certainly could’ve done better – and that lengthy losing streak hurt them – they also could’ve done worn.

In reality, November 2015 isn’t too far off from November 2014 – the Sabres also played thirteen times that month, won six and captured 13 of a possible 26 points. They had a five-game losing streak in the midst of last November’s schedule.

But I digress; this isn’t about what happened last year, and overall the team is quite different from last season.

In the month of November, the Sabres scored 28 times and allowed their opponent just as many goals.

Overall, the Sabres went 6-5-1-1 in the month of November.

Heading into December, Ryan O’Reilly leads the team with 19 points in 24 games. Jack Eichel and O’Reilly each have eight goals this season, while O’Reilly’s 11 assists are most on the team. Rasmus Ristolainen leads all Buffalo D with 14 points (4-10) in 24 games.

The month of December will be a busy one for Buffalo, as they’re slated to play 14 games in the upcoming month; exactly half of those games will be at First Niagara Center, including three consecutive home games from December 15 until December 19.

The month of December also sees the Buffalo Sabres hit Western Canada for a three-game stint, facing the Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames between December 6th and December 10th.

The Sabres are particularly busy on Mondays, Saturdays and Thursdays this month, with three games falling on each of those days. They also have two Tuesday night games, with one game each on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

December will see Buffalo face 12 different opponents, including nine teams they haven’t faced yet this season. That includes division rivals Boston and Detroit.

The Sabres open the month of December by visiting the Detroit Red Wings on December 1st for a 7:30 p.m. matchup. They’ll then head back home to host the Arizona Coyotes on Friday, December 4th.

Following that, Buffalo heads out on their three-game Western Canada road trip, facing Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary. They’ll return home on December 12th to host the Los Angeles Kings, then head *back* out on the road to Detroit (again!) on December 14.

The next day, Buffalo comes home for the first of three consecutive games at First Niagara Center. They’ll host New Jersey, Anaheim and Chicago, all before the Christmas holiday.

After a week off, the Sabres return to action on December 26 at Boston. They’ll then have a home-and-home series with the Washington Capitals before closing out the month – and the year of 2015 – at home against the New York Islanders with a 6 p.m. game on December 31.
