Statistical success

Both outlets labeled Okposo’s scoring and playmaking ability with an A and B grade, respectively. His 45 points scored tied a career-high during his time with the Buffalo Sabres. And while it did not come near his overall career-high of 69 points in 2013-14, the number was good enough for fifth on the team (third in goals scored).

Okposo contributed well on the Sabres second power play unit, scoring eight goals and six assists. His eight goals ranked second behind only Tage Thompson, who compiled 10. Okposo and Thompson were also the only Sabres to score multiple shorthanded goals, with two apiece.

Yardbarker and The Hockey Writers credited Okposo’s fast and furious wrist shot from the circle as the primary reason for his power play success. And although a few more youngsters will find their way onto the Sabres roster come October, don’t look for Okposo to relinquish his spot on the power play just yet.
