Why they should not

Now let’s get into why the Buffalo Sabres SHOULDN’T sign Gaudreau. Firstly, you don’t want to mess up the chemistry. As mentioned already, Adams would probably have to move a piece on the roster and it’ll most likely be a good young player.

After what Sabres fans saw with the team last season, the current core they have right now is solid. So yes, signing Johnny is good but you could be losing a core player in the process.

Another reason why: Money. Even though Buffalo has the most cap space in the league, they’ll need it when re-signing players such as Tage Thompson. Gaudreau will be getting paid big time too, so it might be risky when you want to sign other players on your own team.

Lastly, it’s unpredictable how he would do. Even though last year was a fantastic one for Gaudreau, his career stats have been so inconsistent. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a solid player but it could be risky depending on how much money you give him.
