3 forwards the Buffalo Sabres will target at ninth overall

Austin mocked Geekie to the Buffalo Sabres, and I believe that if Kemell and Gauthier are gone by the time the blue and gold are on the clock, they will take the Winnipeg Ice product. Kimelman has Matthew Savoie going to the Sabres, and he has been a prospect I kept my eye on while Morreale mocked center Frank Nazar in this slot.
So what makes Geekie an attractive pick at number nine, especially since Kimelman waited until the 22nd pick to mock Geekie to the Anaheim Ducks? The NHL.com expert cited concerns with the Ice product’s skating ability. However, he is speedy and has shown off his agility numerous times this past season, so perhaps the phrase raw skater is more appropriate.
Geekie also displayed his overall productivity, scoring 70 times (24 goals) in 63 games. Overall, he would make for more of a developmental project for the Sabres, but that should by no means scare them away.
Morreale mocked him to go at 14th overall, meaning there is also the possibility he falls to sixteen. If that’s the case, expect the Sabres to snag him there if they don’t take him ninth. Or perhaps general manager Kevyn Adams will end up throwing a massive curveball, as my latest mock draft implies (see above).
