Buffalo Sabres: 4 prospects to target with the 41st pick
By Sion Fawkes
Seamus Casey, RHD/US U18
He is undersized, so if the Buffalo Sabres were to go with Casey, he would likely be a long-term, potential-laden project. TCB’s Draft Guide stated that he could compare to another Sabres defenseman, Henri Jokiharju. That said, don’t expect much of a two-way, but more of a stay at home approach if they do select Casey. At least early on.
One of those risky picks that would be fully potential-based, Casey does display an elusive, physical game. He also possesses elite puck control, and he is not hesitant to do his part to move the puck into the offensive zone. So there’s a bit of a two-way prowess here.
I am personally not a fan of going after prospects like Casey since I’d rather play it safer in the early rounds. But if general manager Kevyn Adams thinks they can bring out Casey’s untapped potential, then they need to go for him.
TCB also stated in their draft guide that he could evolve into a two-way player. So perhaps he is a good name to call with the 41st pick. But only if the Sabres are going to be patient with hm.
