Round #3

Pick #74: Tucker Robertson, RW/C/Peterborough (OHL)

With 81 points in 68 games, you know Robertson has playmaking capabilities, unlike most prospects in the middle rounds. Of those 81 points, 41 went for goals, so it is safe to say no one will pass over the versatile OHL product this season.

While Robertson’s game could still use some improvement, his sheer jump from 2019-20 to 2021-22 will leave NHL organizations wondering what’s next. Especially since he, like many Canadian prospects, were forced to take a season off because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Robertson is an agile skater who doubles as one of the fastest players on the ice. He displays a powerful shot that makes him a threat to score from anywhere in the offensive zone. Robertson is also good at going unaccounted for, sneaking his way into the circles or in front of the net, which allows for even more goal-scoring opportunities.

While his defensive game can use some refinement, Robertson displays the speed and aggression, among other intangibles, to develop into a two-way player. If he can hone this latter part of his game, expect Robertson to become at least a middle six forward at the NHL level.
