Second Line

Peyton Krebs, LW

If there is one player slated to make the jump from Year 1 to Year 2 on the Buffalo Sabres roster, it’s Peyton Krebs. He had flaws in his game last season, such as committing way too many turnovers, but he also logged a 15.2 shooting percentage. He did make up for his turnover gaffes with 15 assists, but if he becomes more aggressive in shooting the puck, he will go a long way.

Dylan Cozens, C

Cozens had a stellar first half of the 2021-22 season before he cooled off scoring-wise. However, he did do well in shot selection and his leadership intangibles are through the roof. You can say the same for his work ethic. Cozens is another player I expect to make the jump both points-wise and in winning face-offs.

Victor Olofsson, RW

While I did not include UFAs here, I did include RFAs, so enter Olofsson. Perseverance defined Olofsson’s game last season, as his scoring took a hit until mid-February. If he stays healthy this year, Olofsson could easily turn into the team’s best scorer, even with the presence of Tuch, Thompson, and Skinner. Not saying it will happen, but you shouldn’t be surprised if it does.
