Buffalo Sabres Free Agency: 6 players worth considering
By Zach Jezioro
Moving on from goaltending, Mason Marchment would be a nice signing for Buffalo. In 54 games played with the Florida Panthers, Marchment scored 18 goals and registered 29 assists. Mason could help out either the second or third line on the Sabres. At 27 years old, he’s still relatively young and would make a good mentor for some in the franchise’s youth movement.
Another player that didn’t receive a qualifying offer is Dylan Strome. On a Chicago Blackhawks team that struggled, Strome was a bright spot. He scored 22 goals and registered 26 assists. He’s only 25 years old and would be a great addition to Buffalo’s top six.
Also according to Mark Easson of Pro Hockey Rumors, the Buffalo Sabres are linked to James van Riemsdyk. He isn’t a free agent like the other players on this list but I think he would be a nice piece to have on the roster. In 82 games played with the Philadelphia Flyers, he scored 24 goals and got 14 assists.
Even though he’s 33 years old, he has always been a reliable players in this league and would be a good mentor. He could also play on the second or third line, so another depth player that can score goals and put up points.
