Like Biro, Weissbach also finds himself on the lower end. A seventh round pick in 2017, the winger impressed in 2021-22 when he scored 37 times (16 goals) in 61 games with the Rochester Americans following a 41-point outing at the University of Wisconsin.

A light, speedy, yet aggressive player, Wiessbach’s ability really caught Rochester Americans coach Seth Appert’s attention in February 2022. While there have never been question marks beside Weissbach’s talent, there were questions as to how he would adjust his game against bigger, stronger opponents. And last season, he answered the call.

And just like most prospects in the Buffalo Sabres system, Weissbach must find a way to keep himself relevant if players like Rosen, Kisakov, and Kulich, all players with a higher draft status, arrive and take charge.

Make no mistake: Weissbach forged an identity last season and his production did not miss a beat. If he can make the leap in Year 2 and simultaneously fend off potential competition, then he could pull off the unthinkable and find himself on the top scoring line in Rochester.

Hot. 4 takeaways from last week’s development camp. light

He is signed through the 2022-23 season, so he has one year to prove that he can stick. He showed immense ability and development last season. Now, he needs to repeat it.
