Aaron Dell, San Jose Sharks

Aaron Dell was the one goaltender in the Buffalo Sabres system I knew most likely would not last. When injuries hit the Sabres goaltending rotation hard, Dell posted a 1-8-1 record, an 0.893 save percentage, and a 4.03 GAA. The highlight of his tenure with the Sabres came when the NHL suspended him for interference to forward Drake Batherson.

Dell did, however, enjoy a halfway decent showing at the AHL level. He finished 12-7-1 while playing in relief of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, tallied a 2.91 GAA, and a 0.909 save percentage. This is Dell’s second rodeo with the Sharks, having spent between 2016-17 and 2019-20 with the organization.

During Dell’s first go-around with the Sharks, he played in 107 games, starting 89 of them. He finished with a record of 48-34-12, a 0.908 save percentage and a GAA of 2.76. He will likely sneak into the lineup as the third goaltender behind James Reimer and Adin Hill and should return to the AHL level.
