How much value do former Buffalo Sabres bring to their new teams?

Robert Hagg, Detroit Red Wings
The Buffalo Sabres traded Robert Hagg to the Florida Panthers for a 2022 sixth round draft pick. Following the season, Florida let Hagg walk and upon news regarding Mark Pysyk’s surgery, the Detroit Red Wings promptly signed the now well-traveled defenseman.
Hagg is a big hitter, who logged a total of 138 in 64 games to go along with 102 hits. It was nowhere near his most productive season, but you can expect him to take an identical role with the Red Wings.
Hagg signed a one-year, one-way deal worth $800k with Detroit, and he will likely see time on the third pairing tops, which is what we saw a lot of with Buffalo last season. I wouldn’t expect too much production out of Hagg apart from his sheer physical prowess.
Once again, Cody Eakin remains the only major name from the Buffalo Sabres who has not yet signed anywhere else at the time of this writing. But as you can see in this article, while the Sabres let many of their lower-tier players walk, it was refreshing to note that there was high demand for them. Whether they continue to play at the NHL level or relegate their career in the AHL.
