3 – Tyson Jost

Tyson Jost will be a restricted free agent following the season, making life easier for the Buffalo Sabres if they want to keep him around. And chances are, they will, given his performance since he arrived in the Queen City. Therefore, he is the one player on this list who just needs to keep doing what he’s been doing.

Although Jost has just 18 points and a (-4) in 47 games, don’t let that supposed lack of production fool you. He’s been one of the more effective players on the bottom six this season.

For example, Jost was just one of three Sabres to finish the 10-4 debacle against Dallas with a positive plus-minus rating, with Kyle Okposo and Ilya Lyubushkin being the other two. Few players in the Sabres lineup have also taken care of the puck better than Jost (6 giveaways).

So if he’s been playing well, why is Jost even on this list? Basically, he was a waiver-wire pickup in the last year of his contract. That alone means, even now, he needs to play every game like he has something to prove.

More. Sabres still very much alive in the wild card race. light

A rather physical forward who has put himself in decent position to create opportunities in the offensive zone, look for the Sabres to re-sign Jost and keep him on the bottom six. He will prove himself worthy of sticking around in these final 16 games.
