2 – Draft a top 10 player who fell down the draft boards

This one is a ‘what do I think will happen’ as opposed to ‘what do I hope will happen.’ Though I had him going early in my first mock draft, I don’t see Kevyn Adams taking a chance on Matvei Michkov if he falls to 13th. There is just too much risk there.

The hope, admittedly, is that David Reinbacher falls, but I’m going to be realistic and say he doesn’t slip out of the top 10. However, in every draft, there is always that ONE player who you think will be a surefire top 10 pick that will fall.

In every draft, regardless of where the Buffalo Sabres pick, Adams always needs to go with the best available, even if that pick has little chance of ever making it to the main roster thanks to lack of room. At that point, you can draft top-end prospects, develop them, and trade them if you need to.
