Buffalo Sabres prospect Linus Weissbach

3 – Linus Weissbach, W

Linus Weissbach put together another solid campaign with the Rochester Americans, recording 47 points in 69 contests, and another 10 in 12 playoff games. Weissbach is also waivers-exempt, which makes the decision to retain and send him back to Rochester even easier.

While I don’t see Weissbach ever moving up to the main roster barring an array of injuries, the more he develops in Rochester, the more lucrative of a trade piece he can become for a team looking to sell players at the deadline for prospects. In short, it should be an easy decision to bring him back.

4 – Brett Murray, W

Since he’s not waivers-exempt, and with Zemgus Girgensons and Kyle Okposo re-signing, along with the fact Tyson Jost is basically a lock to re-sign, Brett Murray is in a curious situation. Therefore, there is no room in the lineup for Murray, but he’s also too valuable to just let walk.

Lance Lysowski of Buffalo News has a potential solution regarding Murray, and that’s to trade his rights. And to be honest, I agree 100% that Kevyn Adams shouldn’t hesitate to trade away this NHL-caliber talent.
