Tonight, the Buffalo Sabres battle the Vancouver Canucks in a 1970 face-off for the second and final meeting between the teams this season.
The Sabres are coming off Sunday’s 4-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers and hit tonight’s game in the midst of a Western Canada road trip. Following this evening’s late game, which features a 10 p.m. EST puck drop, they’ll travel to Calgary for a 9 p.m. tilt on Thursday. They’ll then return home to host the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
Jack Eichel and Ryan O’Reilly current lead the Buffalo Sabres with nine goals each, after each tallied a goal in Sunday’s loss.
O’Reilly overall leads the team with 22 points (9-13) in 27 games.

- Who scores the first goal for the Buffalo Sabres? An easy question with so many options. Sunday night, it was Jack Eichel with his absolute beauty of a backhand to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead. Who will it be tonight? Ten points for a correct answer.
- Ryan O’Reilly is third on the team in shots with 66, behind only Jack Eichel (90) and Rasmus Ristolainen (67). How many shots will O’Reilly register in tonight’s game for the Buffalo Sabres? You’ll get that many points if you’re right.
- How many saves will Sabres netminders put up in tonight’s game? (Note: several games ago, the question was asked as “How many saves will Linus Ullmark make tonight?” Ullmark played part of the game but not the whole game, being swapped out for Johnson, so only Ullmark’s saves counted towards that question. Tonight, we’re keeping it general.) We’ll give you 25 points for the right answer.
- Ryan O’Reilly needs just one goal to reach his 100th NHL career goal milestone. Will he hit that marker this evening? A simple yes or no will do – and if you’re correct, 20 points will head your way.
- Rasmus Ristolainen continues to eat a lot of ice time pretty much every night for the Buffalo Sabres – and also impressively has managed to stay penalty-free throughout the course of this season so far. How much ice time will he get in tonight’s game against the Vancouver Canucks? If you’re right within 10 seconds, we’ll give you 100 points. Right within 30 seconds, you’ll get 25 points.
- With tonight’s game being a late one, I want to keep the Fan Chatter open until the last possible minute. So instead of telling me the winners of the rest of Monday’s games, go ahead and predict who will win Tuesday’s matchups: NYI/PHI, LAK/CBJ, DET/WSH, NJD/TOR, OTT/FLA, ARI/STL, NSH/CHI, CAR/DAL, SJS/CGY. Five points for each right answer, 60 points if you get them all correct.
