Team Likeability: 5. Buffalo’s last big playoff series win came against the Rangers, and there’s still a bit of a grudge between the two fanbases for it. They get a 5 because they have the ever awesome Martin St. Louis on their squad.
Win Starvation: 5. I would make it higher as it’s been 20 years since the 1994 team last brought the Stanley Cup to New York, but every Ranger fan ever talks about it like it’s yesterday so I guess it’s still not that far off? Ha! OK, I’ll stop before Ranger fans point to literally anything in Buffalo sports this past year, except Zemgus Girgensons. Love you, Z!
Fan Rating: 9. MSG is its own world on playoff hockey night. The games always sell out, and Rangers fans are everywhere. This series with Philadelphia will be a brawl, and I expect the fans to be their usual playoff selves.
Cup Contender Chances: 5. Some stats suggest they’re better than expected, and Marty St. Louis could be the extra ace they’ve needed to score more, but it’s still a long shot.
