Winner #2: Peyton Krebs

The Sabres acquired Krebs in the Jack Eichel trade and he became a solid contributor to the main roster. However, since he had eligibility left, why not send him back down to Rochester for the playoffs, where he can further hone his game?

We know Krebs for his passing, and it is exactly what he brought to the Amerks. He scored no goals, but 11 assists in 10 games let Krebs show off his value. He also played in 18 regular season games with the Amerks, where he put up another 15 points before solidifying a spot in Buffalo.

The only flaw is that he went 0 for 15 during the playoffs with shots on goal. A stark contrast from his 15.2 shooting percentage with the Sabres. It’s hard to call this a red flag, given Krebs’ ability to create scoring opportunities for teammates.

Look for him to return to the NHL come October. And you can also expect J.J. Peterka as a potential line mate.
