If there is one player on this list that I can see enjoying a breakout season for the Rochester Americans, it’s Lukas Rousek. So much, it wouldn’t surprise me if he made his NHL debut for the Buffalo Sabres in a one-off later in the season.

Rousek didn’t impress during his 19-game stint in 2022-23, scoring just four points and one goal. However, he did have ACL surgery earlier that season, and it undoubtedly had something to do with his slow start when he finally saw the ice.

But that changed during the Calder Cup Playoffs, in which he recorded six points in 10 games, two of which went for goals. Overall, expect Rousek to sneak his way onto one of the top scoring lines and pick up where he left off.

After a strong development camp, Rousek showed just how offensively sound he can be when healthy. While he will have strong competition to ward off, Rousek showed enough to warrant sound interest from both the Buffalo and Rochester coaching staffs.
