When the NHL All-Stars hit the ice in Columbus this weekend, there are several notable faces who won’t be joining them after all.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby suffered a lower-body injury and will now miss the All-Star Game. Thanks to NHL rules, that also means he’ll have to sit out the Penguins’ first game after the All-Star Break. In addition, Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Bobrovsky have also both been ruled out for the NHL All-Star Game due to injury.

To replace the missing players, Brian Elliott has been added for the goaltenders, while rookie Filip Forsberg was promoted from the rookie all-stars.

The NHL All-Star teams will be selected in the fantasy draft on Friday evening. Team captains Nick Foligno and Jonathan Toews will pick their respective teams in the fantasy draft at 8 p.m. on Friday; the draft is being televised on NBC Sports Network in the United States, and Sportsnet throughout Canada. For fans attending the NHL All-Star Game this weekend in Columbus, take note of the new ticket policy – introduced just mere days ago – that may affect you, particularly if you have small children.

The ticket policy, enforced by the National Hockey League, states that ALL fans attending – including infants – must have a ticket. This provides quite a wrinkle of a situation for parents who may have been counting on taking their child in, sans ticket, and allowing them to sit on their lap. The kicker: this was just announced three days ago, and only sent out via email to Columbus Blue Jackets season ticket holders, so — spread the word if you know anyone who may be affected.
