The Buffalo Sabres kick off the 2015-2016 NHL season on October 8, 2015. The month of October will see the team play 11 games in just 23 days, a busy calendar for the team right off the bat this upcoming season.

Here’s a breakdown of the Buffalo Sabres schedule for October 2015:

Oct 8. Buffalo Sabres. Ottawa Senators. 1. player. 91. The Buffalo Sabres open the 2015-2016 season as they host the Ottawa Senators at First Niagara Center on October 8th at 7 p.m. This will be a hot-ticket item as it offers fans the first chance to see Jack Eichel appear in a regular-season NHL game, alongside other big names like Sam Reinhart, Ryan O’Reilly and Evander Kane. It’s a can’t-miss game and (hopefully) the start of something good.

Oct 10. Buffalo Sabres. Tampa Bay Lightning. 2. player. 23. The Buffalo Sabres will kick off the matinee portion of their season, which will see multiple afternoon games throughout the season, with this 1 p.m. hosting of the Lightning. It’s a good opportunity for families who may otherwise find it hard to get to games, to take the crowd to the rink.

4. player. 87. After three games at home, the Buffalo Sabres take to the road for a Florida trip. First up: the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on this Thursday evening. I’ve got two words: Jaromir Jagr.. Oct 15. Buffalo Sabres. Florida Panthers

Oct 17. Buffalo Sabres. Tampa Bay Lightning. 5. player. 23. As per usual, after taking to the Panthers, the Sabres will visit the Lightning for this 7 p.m. Saturday meeting. Guys like Tyler Johnson, Ryan Callahan and Andrei Vasilevskiy could make this an interesting night.

7. player. 152. Two days later, the Sabres kick off their first set of back-to-backs of the season. The Habs visit Buffalo first for this 7 p.m. Friday date. Among those in attendance: Zack Kassian, Brian Flynn, and newcomer Alexander Semin.. Oct 23. Buffalo Sabres. Montreal Canadiens

85. Less than 24 hours after the Habs and Sabres finish up their meeting, the Devils will hit the ice at FNC for a game against the Buffalo Sabres. It’ll be the first test of the stamina of the team as they’ll have to put up a good show in both nights…. and it’s just the beginning.. Oct 24. Buffalo Sabres. New Jersey Devils. 8. player

Philadelphia Flyers. 9. player. 68. After two days off, the Buffalo Sabres then head to Pennsylvania for a pair of games. First up: the Broad Street Bullies. This night will begin with the Flyers’ honoring Daniel Briere for his retirement, and will hopefully end with the Sabres walking away with two points.. Oct 27. Buffalo Sabres

player. 92. Following the hopefuly rout of the Flyers, the Sabres visit the Penguins for their first meeting of the season. This will be the Sabres’ first taste of Kessel in the black & gold, playing alongside classic guys like Sidney Crosby & Evgeni Malkin. Woof… watch out.. Oct 29. Buffalo Sabres. Pittsburgh Penguins. 10

player. 68. Less than 24 hours after things wrap up at Consol Energy Center, the Sabres will be back on FNC ice to host the Philadelphia Flyers to close out the month. With back-to-back games and travel as factors to contend with, this could be a challenging matchup. The good news: the Flyers face the same challenges, as they host the Devils the night prior.. Oct 30. Buffalo Sabres. Philadelphia Flyers. 11

The opening month sees the Buffalo Sabres face nine teams, all Eastern Conference foes. There are two sets of back-to-backs, first on Friday & Saturday October 23 & 24 – both home games – and then again to finish the month on October 29 & 30.
