McCabe, Reinhart and Makarov are the lone players on the Sabres roster with NHL experience.
The Sabres have also invited several players that are not team property to represent Buffalo in the Prospects Challenge, including Canisius College netminder Keegan Asmundson, who went 13-8-4 with Canisus last year and appeared in three games with South Carolina of the ECHL.
Another invitee goaltender: C.J. Motte of Ferris State University. He went 18-20-2 last season with FSU and also appeared in four games with Bridgeport of the AHL.
Two players who spent time last season with the Rochester Americans last season have been invited: Matt Garbowsky and Matt Prapavessis.
Other invitees: Sarnia Sting defenseman Josh Chapman, who impressed many after his invite to development camp earlier in the summer; blueliner Spiro Goulakos of Colgate University, and Charlottetown d-men David Henley.
All those players – along with a crop of Bruins and Devils prospects – will hit the ice at First Niagara Center and HARBORCENTER later this month.
