Buffalo Sabres Show More Chemistry Against Flyers

facebooktwitterreddit

Finally – Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel showed he’s human! Early in the 2nd period, Eichel made a few mistakes and it looked like he may be dwelling on them. As an 18-year-old, it’s going to happen, Eichel is going to make some mistakes. First, every player does. It means they’re human. Second, take a note from Zemgus Girgensons. I saw him make a couple mistakes and #28 put his head down and come back to make a solid defensive play.

Nevertheless, Eichel made up for it. In the 3rd, he created an offensive chance, got himself in front of the net, and screened Steve Mason on a point shot from Jake McCabe.

This is the kind of resilience the Buffalo Sabres should have. The Flyers came down and tie the game 2-2, but the Sabres answered right away.

The chemistry is really starting to show with the boys. They are finding each other easier, making plays and supporting each other on the ice.

Ryan O’Reilly and Tyler Ennis have definitely found their touch together and with all the line shuffling, it is impressive that the Sabres are doing this well.

It’s still very early in the season, but it was good to see things click for the Buffalo Sabres last night against the Philadelphia Flyers.

  • In the 3rd period, it seemed like the Buffalo Sabres were in the Flyers end for 10 minutes straight. That’s not something you usually see from them. They were putting their foot down on the Flyers and not giving them any breathing room; I loved it.

Yes, I know the Flyers scored with under a minute, but as an overall game, the Sabres played well. It is unfortunate that a few breakdowns cause costly goals for the Sabres.

Besides the Flyers’ first goal that was a nice shot, but stoppable, Chad Johnson had a solid game. Remember, this is the Sabres backup that would give Robin Lehner a day off.

For Johnson to be playing well and keeping the Sabres in games when they need him, I think he is doing a decent job. Some goals will make you cringe, but every goalie will have his weak goals.

Lastly, is 3-on-3 not the greatest? The pace is awesome and it actually ends games. You may not like it, but at least there are fewer shootouts. Nice job by Carlo Colaiacovo and Zegmus Girgensons to finish it for the Sabres.
