Buffalo Sabres Look To Build On Thriving Offense Vs Oilers

I guess the McDavid vs. Eichel showdown will have to wait longer than we all expected everyone. Yes, I too am disappointed in the fact that McDavid is hurt and I won’t be able to watch Jack Eichel skate and score circles around him in today’s game, but despite that, Buffalo has somethings very good going for them right now. They have a hot offense, a stellar defense, and some partial stability in the goaltending tandem.

More from Sabre Noise

The Buffalo Sabres have been on a bit of an offensive surge as of late. The team has scored four or more goals in their last four games, and it is a refreshing sight to see indeed. After the brief stretch of offensive starvation, the sudden flood of goals into the opposition’s net is quite nice.

Leading the offensive charge is the likes of Ryan O’Reilly, Rasmus Ristolainen, Jack Eichel, and Sam Reinhart. I just want to express how incredible it is that the team is being mainly led by those four names. The high priced top line center is producing, the two young offensive studs are scoring goals, and the future top defender is great possession wise and stat wise.

The key tonight for the Buffalo Sabres will be for these four to continue their dominating performances. The Edmonton Oilers are struggling as of late, and though the blame may be placed on the fact that they do not have Connor McDavid in the lineup, the fact still remains that the Oilers are just a poor hockey team right now. Their goaltending has been shaky, and their defense has been just as bad. With the Sabres offense rolling along like they are now, the situation could not be more perfect to light them up.

A lot of focus will be put on Jack Eichel tonight. Though he is not the top offensive threat the Buffalo Sabres have at the moment, the overlying draft situation from this past June is still a little sour in the mouths of Sabres and Oilers fans. Jack Eichel will be showcased for sure in this game, and it will be the biggest stage set for him to light the lamp so far.

Sabres fans (especially me) have been more than satisfied with the result that they have gotten from Jack Eichel, but personally, there is nothing more I want to see than good ‘ol Jack-a-boy lighting up the Edmonton Oilers net minder so I can have my final laugh in their face for mistakenly passing up on him. Jack Eichel was always the player that I wanted from this past year’s draft regardless of if we picked #1 or #2; I just want the Oilers to realize what a stud they passed up on.

So this is my formal call to Jack Eichel himself to light up the Oilers tonight!
