The Buffalo Sabres young gun has helped his team climb back into the playoff race.  Adam dishes on where Eichel could wind up.

With Jack Eichel as the face and future of the Buffalo Sabres, what does that mean for us? It means a few things:

  1. He’s Buffalo’s next hero, idol, poster child, and ambassador
  2. He’s the NHL’s next unsung/ignored hero

We all know it here in 716 that Jack Eichel is our savior; he is our newest Jim Kelly or Gilbert Perreault in the making. And honestly, I don’t really care if the NHL or NBCSN appreciates it or not; they can’t realize awesome when it slaps them in the face! They are more concerned about making Crosby in Pittsburgh, Matthews in Toronto and McDavid is Edmonton superstars for America. Why the hell would the poop heads in Toronto want to promote an “unworthy” and “puny” American as their poster child?!

But regardless about stupid hockey politics, everybody loves to compare past players to current players…and current players to current players…and Canadians to Canadians…and blaa blaa blaa…

Jack Eichel doesn’t need to be anybody’s all-star but Buffalo’s! He is currently proving to us that he is a leader and the future of our team! With Jack trying hard to lead the charge, it’s only a matter of time before he becomes OUR historic player!

Since people love to compare current players to current players, I will open up the discussion! Not that I am comparing Jack to these players, but we need a benchmark to base our conversation on. How will Jack Eichel’s career turn out to be?

  1. John Tavares & the Isles: Tavares is a wonderfully skilled player who had/has a poop team around him. In years past, he made Matt Moulson look good. Honestly, since Moulson’s departure, the Isles have been as good. Will Eichel turn out to be like Tavares? A great player on a consistently lousy team?
  2. Alex Ovechkin & the Caps. Let’s face it, the Washington Capitals are only relevant because of Ovi! If Washington D.C. didn’t have a USSR/KGB spy skating for them/then they would suck! I think there is a reason why there is a spy in DC! Of all the fake news and bull poop on Twitter, CNN, and Fox News, I’m flabbergasted that no one has picked up on the Red Russian leaking secrets back to Putin! The heck with Snowden you morons, it’s been Ovi the whole time!! Will Jack turn out like Ovi? Will he be a player that consistently carries his team to the playoffs, only to choke?
  3. Crosby & that other Russian spy, Evgeni Malkin! What the fudge is wrong with America?! We’re letting Canadians and Russians invade our country! Thank God for Donald Trump! With the Donald as President of the US of America, it will only be a few days before he deports the Canadians and Russians! It’s only a matter of time before an entirely “USA” team wins the Stanley Cup! It’s gonna be like 1980 Olympics all over again! Will Jack turn out to be like Cindy and lead his team to multiple Stanley Cup Championships?

(Editor’s note: yes, Adam was joking.  Relax.)

Long story short, I don’t give a hoot who Jack is compared to! It’s like comparing siblings to each other. Yes, all players have a degree of talent, but their skill level is all relative to their day in age…just like you can’t compare the performance ratings of a 2016 Chevy Corvette Z06 to a 1967 Vette Stingray.  The Buffalo Sabres have a great young talent in Jack Eichel; whether he succeeds in Buffalo or fails is largely in the hands of the front office.
