The Buffalo Sabres take on the New Jersey Devils this afternoon and it will be one that features young talents like Jack Eichel and Nico Hischier.
The Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils will face off today at 3:00pm for a mid day bout, and there should be plenty of youth to watch throughout the game.
The Sabres lineup features the likes of Jack Eichel, who is having a solid start to his season with 3 points (1G, 2A) in two games so far, and The Devils’ lineup will feature young talent and 2017’s first overall pick in the NHL draft Nico Hischier.

So far Hischier has only managed one game in the NHL and has not produced a point yet, but his skill set has been put on display. He has shown creativity and calmness with the puck, and very high Hockey IQ away from the puck. As more games pass, he is expected to produce more. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him do so today.
Jack Eichel has had a good start to his year and is having great chemistry with his line mates Evander Kane and Jason Pominville. These three Sabres have accounted for every Sabres goal scored so far, and that trend
should not be expected to end today. Eichel and Kane will be valuable assets to the Sabres offense in this tilt.
Someone to note on the Devils roster is defenseman Will Butcher. Butcher was involved with a college free agent frenzy for his services during the off season; a frenzy in which Buffalo was supposedly involved in. In his first game in the NHL, Butcher managed 3 assists, and currently leads the Devils team in points because of it. It will be interesting to see if he has that much of an impact on this game today.
The Buffalo Sabres have lost their first two games of the season and they will be looking to bounce back after a very tough 6-3 loss to the Islanders just two nights ago. The defense was sloppy and the offense was giving up the puck left and right in the wrong zones. It was a learning night for the entire team and will hopefully be fixed for the game today.
Key players need to start contributing to the Buffalo Sabres offense if they are to have a good chance today. Ryan O’Reilly only has one point, Kyle Okposo has zero, Sam Reinhart has zero, and Rasmus Ristolainen has one point. These are all young key players that need to step up today if Buffalo is going to win. Let’s hope they do.
