Zach Bogosian
Last year was a difficult season for Zach Bogosian to say the least. The season did not start for Bogosian until December 1st due to an injury in the last game of the preseason . He then returned to play only 18 games and notching only 1 assist without scoring a goal. Bogosian hurt his leg in practice in early January and although the initial assessment was that he would only miss 4-6 weeks, he ended up requiring hip surgery and missed the rest of the season.
One of the biggest knocks of Bogosian throughout his career has been his durability. Bogosian has not broken the 70 game threshold since 2010-11 and he has missed significant time in 2 of his 4 seasons in Buffalo.
Zach Bogosian appears to be healthy and ready to go for training camp. He has been playing well up in the Da Beauty League and there has been nothing but good news coming out of Minnesota.
The Sabres do not need Bogosian to put of big offensive numbers. The mostly likely scenario is that Bogosian will be lined up with Rasmus Dahlin as Marco Scandella and Rasmus Ristolainen will continue to play together. Bogosian is the veteran of the defense and leads the Sabres’ defense core in games played. Phil Housely will be definitely looking to Bogosian to provide a strong leadership role, especially if he is paired with Dahlin.
