The Buffalo Sabres return to the ice on Monday afternoon as they host the defending Western Conference Champion Vegas Golden Knights.
After notching their first win of the season on Saturday night against the New York Rangers, the Buffalo Sabres welcome the Vegas Golden Knights for a matinee matchup on Monday afternoon.
As of now, the lineup is projected to be unchanged however there are some potential changes. Johan Larsson, on injured reserve since October 2nd with a foot injury, practiced with the team on Sunday. If Larsson is activated from injured reserve, someone will need to return to Rochester.

If the Buffalo Sabres can win today, their 2-1 win-loss record will be one of the best starts for the organization in a while. From Matt Bove, a win today will put the Sabres over .500 for the first time since January 2013. Additionally, getting the second win on October 8th will be the earliest the Sabres have won 2 games since they won the first 2 and first 5 of 6 games to start the 2011-12 season.
The top power play unit played extremely well against the New York Rangers on Saturday night. Conor Sheary had 2 power play goals, the first time he has had 2 power play goals in one game, and the team has a power play efficiency of 33.3%.
Leading the way for the Sabres is new captain Jack Eichel. Eichel has a goal and an assist and after the first 2 games leads all forwards in the NHL with an average time on ice at 23:38.
The Vegas Golden Knights come into Buffalo after an amazing year, arguably the best first season for an expansion team in any professional North American sports league. In head to head action last year, the Sabres lost both games to the Golden Knights. The first game was an overtime loss in October followed by a shootout loss at Home in March.
Today’s matinee is at the KeyBank Center at 3:00 and can be seen on MSG and heard on WGR 550. The Sabres next game is on Thursday as they host the Colorado Avalanche to wrap up the four game homestand.
