The Buffalo Sabres continue to impress with their newfound winning attitude as they win against the Canadiens to improve to 6-4-0.

It’s a strange feeling as a Buffalo Sabres fan to notice that the team isn’t sitting at the bottom of the standings; or losing games that could have easily been won. Tonight, this team continued to show the perseverance of champions as they fought hard for every minute to win.

It was a game that just seemed to be one of bad bounces going against them the entire night. Some soft goals were let in by goaltender Carter Hutton, and the Canadiens just didn’t seem to have much control over the game in general. Buffalo was flying around the ice and making the Habs players make a ton of mistakes, which ultimately led to each Sabres goal tonight.

Jason Pominville led the way in the goal department with two goals (one on the power play), and Jeff Skinner was the playmaker tonight with three assists. Strange to see in those cases that Jack Eichel was not a key to the success, but it was a bit reassuring to see that he isn’t completely needed for this team to score. Kyle Okposo scored the game winning goal with just over a minute left in the game, and that goal came on the power play as well. The new spread out power play units seem to be putting more pressure on opposing teams, and it seems to be working well.

A player that deserves to be noticed for tonight was Patrik Berglund. The Buffalo Sabres fourth line center was a difference maker at both ends of the ice but unfortunately was not rewarded with a goal tonight. Despite key chances to bury one past goaltender Antti Niemi, Berglund was held off the scoresheet.
