The Buffalo Sabres have won their second game in a row, and that puts them back on a slight trend upwards as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Arizona Coyotes by a score of 3-1 and it looked like they finally had their heads together. Defensive players were supporting each other and Hutton, the offense was dangerous every time they stepped out on the ice, the checking lines were keeping the Coyotes defense honest, and Carter Hutton looked solid as well.
It’s been a few games since everything came together so well. There wasn’t a point in the game that felt like they were not in control. Offensive pressure was constant all night with the Buffalo Sabres being able to pin the opposition in their own end for over a minutes multiple times. That level of control and synchronization is rare in general, but it was going on all night.

After this win they will look to push forwards into furthering that win streak, but there are a few key things that need to continue to happen.
Sam Reinhart needs to continue to produce and really put his playmaking ability on display. He is currently on an 8 game point streak and playing some of his best hockey with Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner.
Speaking of Skinner, he netted his 22 goal of the season to tie him for second in the league in goals. As Skinner continues his hot presence on the Sabres top line, the team will follow suit and produce around him. His contributions to the offense are deeply welcomed, and if the Buffalo Sabres wish to continue their success, Skinner will need to be a part of that drive.
Lastly, Rasmus Ristolainen must continue to dominate and irritate opposing teams. He throws hits, gets creative in the offensive zone, and is turning into a younger and refined Brent Burns in some ways. A player like that is something that can really change the game for a team like the Buffalo Sabres.
Buffalo will play the defending Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals on Saturday, so they will have a bit of a rest before going into that. Should they continue their positive trend, the Sabres could be well on their way towards a real shot at the playoffs.
