The Buffalo Sabres captured their first win of the season last night over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Sabres looked like the best they have all season last night in their dominant 6-1 victory in Philly. They will look to keep up the momentum tonight in the second half of their back-to-back vs the Flyers.

There were a few line shakeups in last night’s game that seemed to work. Sam Reinhart was bumped up to the second line, pairing him with Jack Eichel and Taylor Hall. Rookie Dylan Cozens made his first appearance on the second line, alongside Eric Staal and Victor Olofsson. And Tage Thompson was dropped from the first line down to the third line.

The addition of Sam Reinhart to the top line made an immediate impact, as Sam tallied two goals and Eichel and Hall both had two assists. That is a line that needs to stick together going forward.

It was announced just a few hours before the game that Linus Ullmark was unavailable due to a personal reason. But Ullmark participated in the morning skate today according to Coach Ralph Krueger. So it will be interesting to see who starts in goal tonight for Buffalo.

Due to the lack of Ullmark last night, Carter Hutton got the nod to start in net. Given that he was expected to be the back-up goalie until about two hours before puck drop, he played an amazing game. He stopped 21 out of 22 shots.

If Ullmark is back with the Sabres, then there is no change to the injury reports for either team. We saw Rasmus Dahlin leave the ice after he took a cheap shot to the face late in the third period from Flyers forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel, but it looks like Dahlin is good to go for tonight’s game.
