Two more Sabres added to the NHL’s COVID protocol list
The Buffalo Sabres announced yesterday that they have added two more players to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol list. Curtis Lazar and rookie Dylan Cozens were the newest additions from the Sabres to be placed on the health and safety protocol list.
Buffalo is now up to seven players and one coach that have needed to be put into the league’s health and safety protocol. No one will be able to practice, travel, or play in games for the Sabres until they are removed from the league’s protocol.
Cozens and Lazar now join Taylor Hall, Rasmus Ristolainen, Tobias Rieder, Brandon Montour, and Jake McCabe on Buffalo’s COVID list. All of these players have been added to the league’s COVID-19 list over the past seven days. Head coach Ralph Krueger tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently undergoing all of the necessary health and safety protocols.
Cozens has been proving that he belongs in the NHL to start his rookie season. He has recorded two goals and one assist in his first nine career NHL games. After coming off an incredible World Junior Championships tournament before the NHL season started, he has shown that he earned his spot to be on Buffalo’s roster.
Lazar has made his presence felt with the Sabres this season. Through ten games played, he has three goals and one assist. This is Curtis Lazar’s second season in Buffalo after signing with the Sabres as a free agent in the summer of 2019.
The Sabres recently announced the date and times for 12 rescheduled games. Barring any more rescheduled games, the next time we will see the Sabres in action is Thursday, February 11th at 7 pm against the Washington Capitals at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. Buffalo has not played since Sunday, January 31st against the Devils. That game ended in a 5-3 loss for Buffalo.
