The Buffalo Sabres had a surprise hot streak coming into Tuesday night’s game against the New York Islanders. And it’s come by way of none other than Victor Olofsson, a.k.a. “Goalofsson,” who went into the game with a career-best point streak of seven games (three goals and five assists).

Olofsson’s consecutive games with a point streak ended on Tuesday night. He did tally a goal on a power play opportunity in the third period, but the Islanders challenged the play for the Sabres being offsides, and the goal was disallowed.

But even with his streak ending, Victor has been a force ever since entering the league. His consistency and production have put him in good company, especially on the power play. He has the third-most power play goals (17) in the NHL since his 2019 debut.

Olofsson has struck early and often this season. He has five goals and six assists through 12 games so far this season, including another power play goal on Monday night.

The score gave him a team-high four power-play goals this season which has him tied for fourth-most in the NHL, and he now ranks in the league’s top 10 in both power-play points and goals and total power play points (nine). Before Tuesday night, the Sabres scored at least one power play goal in each of their previous six games.

The 25-year-old left wing from Sweden signed a 2-year deal with the team worth $6.1 million last October. He was a 7th-round pick in 2014 at 181st overall and is proving this season to be a truly great draft find by the team.

With Olofsson’s impressive streak of seven consecutive games with a point coming to an end on Tuesday against the Islanders, he will look to start a new streak tonight when the Sabres take on the Washington Capitals.
