The Buffalo Sabres look to try again against the New York Islanders tonight on Long Island. This will be the Sabres’ first trip to Nassau Coliseum this season. They were scheduled to have a road game against the Islanders on February 2nd, but that game got postponed due to multiple Buffalo players landing in the NHL’s health and safety protocol.

The Sabres and Islanders recently played two games in Buffalo last week. New York took both of those games and outscored Buffalo 6-1 over the two games. Those were the first two games that the Sabres had after their 15 day COVID pause.

The Islanders are currently on a two-game losing streak. New York lost their last two games to the Pittsburgh Penguins. And with the Sabres dropping four of their previous five games, both teams will be desperate to get a win.

The Sabres are still without Rasmus Ristolainen as he is recovering from COVID-19. Buffalo will also most likely be without defensemen Jake McCabe for an extended period of time. McCabe suffered a right leg injury on Saturday against the Devils. Buffalo will be very thin on defensive depth with these two out.

Linus Ullmark is expected to be the starting goaltender for the Sabres. The Islanders will be starting Semyon Varlamov.
