After a late power play goal sank the Buffalo Sabres last night, they have very little time to dwell on the loss as they face the New Jersey Devils tonight. The Sabres have now lost five of their last six games. But that one win came against the Devils last weekend.

The Sabres are starting to get pretty close to being desperate for a win. They currently sit at the bottom of the East Division and have not shown much for people to see them as a threat. The Devils currently sit seventh in the east, so it is a real opportunity for the Sabres to get a couple of wins.

Buffalo played their best game since their COVID pause against the Devils on Saturday afternoon. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead and closed it out with a win. If they can replicate that performance vs. New Jersey again, it could lead to a little bit of much-needed momentum.

The Sabres will most likely have Jeff Skinner back on the ice tonight after he was a healthy scratch last night. Especially after Tobias Rieder left yesterday’s game with an upper-body injury, the Sabres will need Skinner in the lineup if Rieder cannot go. Buffalo will also still be without Rasmus Ristolainen, and with the news breaking yesterday, they will be without Jake McCabe for the rest of the season.

The goalie matchup for tonight’s game is expected to be Linus Ullmark against Mackenzie Blackwood.
