Coming off an abysmal performance yesterday afternoon, the Buffalo Sabres get to try to put that behind them today as they face the Philadelphia Flyers for the back end of this weekend’s back-to-back. The Sabres are coming off being shut out for the third time this year and the second time against the Flyers.

Buffalo was pretty much dominated from start to finish yesterday. They were outshot 39 to 23, won only 37.8% of faceoffs, and went 0-3 on the power play. Coming into this game, the Sabres were the best team in the league on the power play, and the Flyers had the 30th ranked penalty kill. Over the course of their three power play opportunities, the Sabres could only manage two shots on goal.

After yesterday’s game, Ralph Krueger said that he expects Jack Eichel to be good to go for today. This could be a massive boost for the Sabres offense that looked stagnant yesterday against Philly.

Rasmus Ristolainen also returned yesterday for the first time since before the Sabres’ COVID pause. He recorded 22:18 TOI and six hits. So it was great to see that Risto had some good stamina in his first game back.

Buffalo could very well have Jonas Johansson in net today as Carter Hutton got the start yesterday. The Flyers are expected to start Carter Hart.
