The Buffalo Sabres will look to score at least one goal tonight as they face the New York Rangers. The Sabres are coming off of back-to-back 3-0 losses at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers. Buffalo has looked very sluggish over their past few games.

Buffalo is currently on a three-game losing streak, and they are 2-7-1 in their last ten games. The team has been plagued with injuries and some questionable coaching decisions since returning to play from their two-week COVID pause.

Since coming back, the Sabres have lost Jake McCabe for the rest of the season, Linus Ullmark for at least a month, Jack Eichel missed two games, and Jeff Skinner was a healthy scratch for three games.

The Rangers have also had some key players missing time as of late. Artemi Panarin has missed the last three games for the Rangers with a non-injury-related issue. Kaapo Kakko has been in the NHL’s health and safety protocol and has not played in a game since February 18th.

Both of these teams rank towards the bottom of the league in goals per game, so we shouldn’t expect to see a very high-scoring game. And with the way that the Sabres have been playing lately, they would probably prefer it to be low scoring.

The expected goalie matchup is Carter Hutton for the Sabres and Igor Shesterkin for the Rangers.
