Sabres hope to avoid being swept by the Islanders
The Buffalo Sabres have lost six in a row, including their last two to the New York Islanders. Buffalo has lost 5-2 in each of their first two games against the Islanders in this three-game series. The Sabres are 0-5-0 against New York so far this season.
Sabres GM Kevyn Adams recently criticized the team for underperforming. He held a press conference Friday afternoon, the day after Buffalo lost 5-2 to the Islanders on Thursday night. The Sabres failed to produce a better outcome yesterday as they lost their second straight game by the score of 5-2.
The Sabres have very quickly watched their season take a downward spiral. Buffalo is not only 12 points out of a playoff spot and in last in the East Division, they also find themselves at the very bottom of the NHL. Through 22 games played, the Sabres have only 15 points.
Unlike Buffalo, the Islanders have been playing extremely well as of late. They have won six of their last seven games, their only loss being against the Penguins in overtime. New York took sole possession of first place in the East Division with 32 points with their win over the Sabres yesterday.
Many people are surprised that Buffalo has not fired head coach Ralph Krueger by now. But it seems like the organization still has faith in him to turn their season around. With how things have looked over the last few weeks, it doesn’t look like there is much chance of a quick turnaround.
