With the Buffalo Sabres season being as disappointing as it has been so far, it is always a welcoming sight to get some good news. With the AHL season in full swing, it has been nice to see how some of the Sabres’ top prospects have been playing. One of Buffalo’s top prospects scored in yesterday’s game for the Rochester Americans.

The eighth overall pick in the 2020 NHL draft, Jack Quinn, scored the first goal of his professional hockey career yesterday for the Americans in a game against the Utica Comets. His goal came off of a one-time shot with assists from Brett Murray and Arttu Ruotsalainen.

So far this season, Quinn has played in eight games and recorded one goal and two assists. At only 19 years of age, Buffalo’s first-round pick has plenty of time to develop his skills and become a crucial piece of the Sabres organization for years to come.

Quinn was a member of Team Canada in this past IIHF World Junior Championships. He played alongside current Sabres rookie stand-out Dylan Cozens throughout the tournament. Team Canada had an incredible tournament and made it all the way to the finals before losing to Team USA. In the World Junior Championships, Quinn played in seven games. In those seven appearances, he had one goal and four assists.

Buffalo has very high expectations for Quinn. And rightfully so, given that he was a top ten pick in the draft. So it is good to see that he is already making an impact in the pro ranks at such a young age. If the Sabres continue to struggle as much as they are throughout the season, it would not come as a surprise to see Quinn make his NHL debut closer to the end of the season.

Next. Eichel to be out at least a week, maybe longer. dark

Through ten games this season, the Rochester Americans are 6-3-1. They are currently in fourth place in the North Division.
