Was last night as bad as it can get for Sabres fans?

The Buffalo Sabres were an absolute embarrassment last night, but sadly, this is nothing new for them. The Sabres got demolished by the Washington Capitals by the score of 6-0. It is really hard to believe that it can get much worse for Buffalo fans at this point.

The team is currently on an 11 game losing streak and consistently shows no signs of life whenever they take the ice. But they seem to have no interest in firing head coach Ralph Krueger currently.

You could consider every day that Krueger is still the Sabers’ head coach is a worse day than the one before for Sabres fans. But I think at this point, everyone is just used to the fact that he could be around for the rest of the year. If they haven’t fired him at this point, they probably aren’t going to fire him before the end of the season.

If you are more of a glass-half-full person, you are probably struggling to get through this Sabres season while keeping that mindset, as there have not been many positives to draw from this season. Through 27 games this year, Buffalo has won only six games, and only four of those came in regulation. Last night’s 6-0 shutout was the sixth time the Sabres have been held scoreless in a game this season.

So six wins and six times being shutout. And if I had to be honest, I would guess it is more likely Buffalo gets shut out again before winning another game. Over their last 11 games that make up their current losing streak, the Sabres have been outscored 47-17 and only scored more than three goals once.

With a brutal schedule, already being 16 points out of a playoff spot, and Jack Eichel being out for an extended period of time, it is safe to say the Sabres are not going anywhere this season. Whether or not the Sabres will move on from Krueger mid-season is currently the most important question they have to answer.
