I mean, does anyone expect anything different at this point? The Buffalo Sabres just gave another example of why they are the worst team in the National Hockey League as they lost their 13th game in a row last night. This time Buffalo lost to the Boston Bruins by the score of 4-1.

There was a different feel going into the game as it would be the first game with Don Granato acting as the head coach. But once the puck was dropped, it did not take Buffalo long to look like the same old Sabres that we have been used to seeing all year long.

Just 2:56 into the first period, Greg McKegg put the Bruins on top. Buffalo was unable to score on any of their seven first-period shots. They held Boston to only one goal, but they found themselves in the familiar spot of trailing early in the game.

The second period was a little better at the start for the Sabres, as Kyle Okposo scored a shorthanded goal at the 1:54 mark of the period. But Buffalo could not take the lead as the Bruins scored two unanswered goals after the Sabres tied the game. Goals from Jake DeBrusk and Craig Smith but Boston up 3-1 at the end of two.

Once again, the Sabres could not make any comeback effort as they only tallied eight shots in the third period. Once David Pastrnak put the Bruins up 4-1 at the 4:44 mark of the period, it made any chance of a comeback pretty much impossible for Buffalo.

The Sabres were outshot once again, which seems to be a very common theme this season. The Bruins recorded 37 shots on goal compared to Buffalo only having 24. The defense has been a significant issue for the Sabres this season. It should undoubtedly be a focus for this team going forward.

dark. Next. Sabres move on from Krueger; what’s their next move?

The Sabres have another shot to end their losing streak on Saturday with fans in the building for the first time this season. Buffalo will take on Boston again on Saturday afternoon.
