With the Buffalo Sabres playing as poorly as they have, it is no surprise that Buffalo will be looking to be sellers at the upcoming trade deadline. One of the big-name Sabres that has been a subject of trade talks has been Taylor Hall.
After the Sabres extended their winless streak to 16 games last night with a 4-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Hall seemed to make it clear that he is open to a potential change in scenery. When asked if he would be open to being traded if Kevyn Adams was receiving offers, he gave a very short and to-the-point answer.
If there was ever a question on if Taylor Hall would be moved before the trade deadline on April 12th, the answer is now clear. Hall signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres worth $8 million this past offseason. So if a team were to trade for him, it would be a rental to a team in playoff contention since he will be a free agent at the end of this season.
There were rumors of Hall being interested in signing an extension to stay in Buffalo longer than this season, but it seems that the idea of that happening is no longer realistic. It looks pretty apparent that Hall will be on the move before the end of the trade deadline.
Taylor has been very underwhelming in Buffalo this season, just like the rest of the team. Through 32 games played, he only has two goals. To go along with this pair of goals, he has added 15 assists. Coming into the season, the plan was to pair Hall with Jack Eichel, but with Eichel being out with injury, we have not gotten to see that pairing as often as we would have liked.
So with the trade deadline approaching quickly, it looks like Hall will likely be on the move. A signing that brought a lot of excitement to Buffalo this offseason seems like it won’t even last an entire season.
