The Buffalo Sabres fell 3-2 in overtime on Thursday night against the New York Rangers, but they have a chance to avenge that loss tonight. The Sabres have been playing much better hockey over the past week, so they will look to keep it up and extend their points streak to four games tonight.
Buffalo nearly completed the comeback victory last time out against the Rangers. Tage Thompson netted the game-tying goal with just three seconds left in the third period to force overtime. But the Sabres could not prevent New York from taking the win in extra time. But even with this loss, Buffalo has looked the best they have in a long time over the past week.
Buffalo has held a lead in each of their last four games, but their record in those games is just 1-1-2. But this is much better than what we have seen over the last month of the season. Interim head coach Don Granato has gotten the team performing at a higher level right now than we saw over the final month of Ralph Krueger’s time in Buffalo.
The Sabres have been able to compete with their opponents and play some entertaining hockey, which is great news for their fans who are still watching games. They look to get back in the win column tonight as they take on the Rangers in KeyBank Arena.
