The Buffalo Sabres will try to right the ship after two consecutive losses this afternoon in Philly against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Sabres have played the Flyers tough ever since interim head coach Don Granato took over. In their two meetings with Granato as the head coach, the Sabres fell 4-3 in overtime and then won 6-1.

Today is the final Sabres game before the trade deadline, which is tomorrow. Buffalo made another trade yesterday, as they sent defenseman Brandon Montour to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.

This is the third trade that the Sabres have made leading up to the trade deadline, as they have sent Eric Staal to Montreal and Jonas Johansson to Colorado in exchange for picks. We should expect Buffalo to be active in the trade market over the next day.

But the team’s focus is on their matchup today. Buffalo has now lost two in regulation in a row after having a five-game point streak snapped on Thursday night. Some good news for the Sabres is that rookie Dylan Cozens is poised to return to the lineup today after missing more time with an injury. And Linus Ullmark is expected to be the starter today after getting Friday night off.
