The Buffalo Sabres will take on the Washington Capitals tonight in the US Capital. Buffalo has lost five of the six games that they have played against Washington this season. The Capitals have won three games in a row and currently sit on top of the East Division standings.

The Sabres are coming off a shootout loss to the Bruins on Tuesday night that saw starting goaltender Linus Ullmark leave with an injury. If Ullmark cannot play and if Carter Hutton remains on the injury report, we will likely see Dustin Tokarski get the start.

Since breaking their long winless streak on March 31st, the Sabres have gotten points in six of their last eight games. Their record in those eight games is 4-2-2. Though Buffalo is still struggling to get wins, you have to give the team credit for their performance over the past couple of weeks.

The Capitals have their sights set on the postseason and taking the East Division crown. They sit atop the division with 60 points in 43 games, but the Islanders are right behind them with 58 points in 42 games. The battle for the East Division crown will undoubtedly be entertaining, although the Sabres will not be involved.
