The Buffalo Sabres take on the Boston Bruins for the final time this season today. The Sabres will look to end their season series with the Bruins with a win this afternoon. Boston will look to take full advantage of playing Buffalo today to help them keep their fourth seed in the East Division.
Even in the Sabres 5-2 loss to the Bruins on Thursday night, Sam Reinhart continued his recent goal streak. He scored one goal in Buffalo’s last game. He is now up to six goals in his last four games. So he will surely be looking to keep his stellar play going as he is about to enter an offseason where he will become a free agent.
It certainly seems that both Carter Hutton and Linus Ullmark will miss the remainder of the season, as there are only four more games for the Sabres after today. So from here on out, it looks like it will be Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Dustin Tokarski as the starting goaltenders. In his three career NHL starts, Luukkonen has allowed 3.73 goals per game and has a save percentage of .908. If the Sabres bring back Ullmark next season, I would not be surprised if Luukkonen slots into the full-time backup goalie role.
