Over the past couple of days, there has been a new development between Jack Eichel and the Buffalo Sabres. Since the end of the season, all we have heard is how it seems that Jack is ready to move on after he was frustrated with how the Sabres handled his neck injury that occurred last season. But now, there seems to be some rumors that Eichel and the Sabres could be close to a resolution. Should fans be buying into these rumors?

Eichel’s agent told the Associated Press that he has had contact with the team, and they “are heading toward a resolution.”

Obviously, this is something that Sabres fans should like to hear. But should fans really start to believe that Eichel is staying? This seems like something that “we will believe when we see it.” There is still a very good chance that Jack plays for a different team next year. It would have to take a major development for Eichel and his camp to want to stay in Buffalo.

It still seems that both parties are not seeing eye-to-eye on treatment for Jack’s herniated disk in his neck that he suffered last season. Jack wants to undergo surgery, but the team doctors are still hesitant to allow him to receive treatment that no NHL player has before. Buffalo would prefer that he takes the rest and rehab approach.

The dispute on treatment is not the only reason why Eichel has expressed frustration with the Sabres. Buffalo has not made the playoffs since Eichel was drafted. A player of Jack’s caliber has the right to be fed up with missing the playoffs every year. So his frustrations seem to be an accumulation of a lot of things. All of these things together seem to be pushing Jack to his boiling point.
