As we are now only six days away from the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft, we should expect to see an uptick in potential trades from rebuilding teams. The Buffalo Sabres have been subject to plenty of trade rumors ever since the regular season ended, and now those rumors are starting to pick up once again.

One of the multiple veteran players that have been surrounded by trade rumors this offseason has been Sam Reinhart. He has voiced his frustrations with Buffalo’s lack of success in his time here, and it looks like he may be ready for a change in scenery.

A report of a new team is surfacing that they could be targeting Sam Reinhart in a trade with the Sabres. According to a tweet from Dennis Bernstein, a writer for thefourthperiod.com, the Los Angeles Kings have had discussions about trying to trade for the 25-year-old Sabres forward.

The Kings currently hold the eighth overall pick in the draft. If the Sabres and Kings were to strike a deal that included Reinhart, there is a good shot that the trade would include that pick, as long as a trade happens before draft night.

There is a freeze on trades, signings, and waiver pick-ups starting today at 3 pm and ends on Thursday at 1 pm (except for the Seattle Kraken). So, if there are no trades today, it would be tough to make anything happen before the draft starts on Friday night.

Reinhart is not the only Sabres star that has been surrounded by trade rumors this offseason. There continues to be talk of trades around Jack Eichel and Rasmus Ristolainen. If the Sabres were to trade all three of these veteran players, they would be getting an abundance of prospects and draft picks in return. But time is running out if they plan to add any more picks for the 2021 NHL Draft.
