The Jack Eichel vs. the Buffalo Sabres saga continues with each day of the offseason. Jack being the superstar player that he is, any fanbase of a team that is interested in him should be extremely excited for the chance to have him on their roster. But New York Rangers fans have taken their desire to trade for the Buffalo captain to a whole new level.

Members of the Blueshirts Breakaway, a New York Rangers podcast, have purchased an ad on an electronic billboard in Buffalo right by the KeyBank Center pleading to #FreeJack. The billboard is on I-190 in the southbound lane and reads, “Aren’t trade requests a pain in the neck? #FreeJack”.

The Rangers have been one of the many teams that have reportedly had talks with the Sabres about a potential trade involving the 24-year-old NHL star. But just like all the other calls that Buffalo has received about Eichel, nothing surfaced in terms of a trade.

Out of all the teams that could be in on trying to trade for Eichel, New York is one of the teams that makes the most sense. They have plenty of young, NHL-ready talent that they could send to Buffalo in exchange for Jack. Any big market like New York City would love to have a superstar like Eichel play in their city.

There has not been much traction on an Eichel trade so far this offseason, as Kevyn Adams’ asking price for Jack may be scaring teams away from making an offer that he may accept. As of now, it seems less and less likely with each day that Buffalo would trade their first-line center before training camp starts. But we now see how Rangers fans feel about the potential opportunity to trade for him.
