The Buffalo Sabres hope to keep their winning streak to start the season alive tonight as they take on the Vancouver Canucks at KeyBank Center. The Sabres are sitting at 2-0-0 this season as the most surprising team so far, and the Canucks are 1-1-1.
The Sabres will look to keep up their gritty play style that has proven to be so successful through their first two games. Buffalo has had consistent pressure on the forecheck and backcheck that has caused fits for their opponent. They have bought into their new strategy, a strategy and play style that Cody Eakin has called “annoying”, referring to how the other teams feel playing against them.
Buffalo has not made any changes from their lines from Saturday’s game. Those line combinations created plenty of quality scoring chances, but could only find the back of the net once in regulation. But if they can keep the same pressure they did on Saturday, the goals will come.
Craig Anderson will be back in net tonight for Buffalo. He was impressive on opening night against the Canadiens, stopping 30 of 31 shots he faced in a 5-1 Sabres victory.
