The Buffalo Sabres will take on the Montreal Canadiens tonight in Buffalo and try to put some of their less than stellar recent play behind them. Buffalo has lost four in a row now, giving up five or more goals in each of those four games.

Montreal is one of the few teams in the Atlantic that are currently worse than the Sabres. The Canadiens come into tonight with a record of 5-14-2. Montreal has only 12 points in 21 games played on the season, compared to 16 points in 19 games for the Sabres. So tonight is a prime opportunity for Buffalo to get back into the win column.

Buffalo will still be short-handed in tonight’s matchup as they are still without Craig Anderson, Drake Caggiula, and Casey Mittelstadt, who are all listed as week-to-week on the injury report with upper-body injuries. Mittelstadt is getting closer to a return, as he was spotted in a non-contact jersey in practice this past week. And the Sabres could really use him back on the ice as soon as possible.
